Solms Delta Rodney Hill Prices include VAT & delivery Franschhoek, owned by Mark Solms. Part of the farm given to the farm workers. Farm sales directly benefit the farm community. Workers on the farm are personally involved in the wine making. History of the farm has been intertwined with the naming and marketing of the wine. The Solms-Delta range consists mainly of Rhône varietals. The Solms-Astor range, consists mainly of unusual Cape blends.

Clear, pale straw. Fresh acid slightly citrus nose. Citrus, mainly lemon with crisp acid. Fresh clean, essence of chenin with a long slightly buttery finish. Fruity, easy drinking and pleasant wine. Chenin 75% Semillon 25% blend Made in a reductive style. The result is a delicate, fruity, easy-drinking fruity style wine

Clear, light golden colour. Floral and peach nose, follows through on the palate. Quite minerally, big mouth feel, with a rich finish and lingering aftertaste. Lemon and vanilla on the finish. Savoury, big wine with a good acid balance. Grenache Blanc 50% , Chenin Blanc 25%, Roussanne 15%, Viognier 10% The Solms winemaking philosophy dictates that the Grenache blanc grapes are desiccated on the vine according to an ancient Greek practice to concentrate colour and flavours. The fully ripe grapes are then harvested and crushed in the cellar where they are given 24 hours’ skin contact at 5° C. It is a barrel-matured dry white wine blend, with intense fruit, layers of complexity and a well-integrated tannic structure and lingering finish.

Clear, light rose red. Sherbet and berries on the nose. Pleasant drinking, dry finish. Big acid with a savoury finish and good berry fruit. Grenache 52% Mouverdre 33% Cinsaut 15% A free-run blend. A full bodied and complex rosé wine. The lees are stirred constantly to enhance colour and body. It is matured in seasoned French oak. A complex rosé, dry, wooded and full-bodied with maturation potential.

Solms Astor Cape Jazz Shiraz NV

Light ruby, with a pink rim, slightly bubbly. Berry nose with a hint of savouriness. Petulance on entry, very fruity, mainly berry. Grapetiser without the sweetness. Nice savouriness, easy drinking wine. Shiraz 100%. Petillant. Across between an Italian Lambrusco and an Australian sparkling Shiraz. Slow fermented with a touch of oak chips. No malolactic fermentation to retain high acid. Celebratory fizz added. Light, sparkling and refreshing. Low in alcohol and infused with a subtle fruit sweetness.

Solms Astor Langarm 2012

Deep garnet. Berry nose with a hint of cigar box. Rich berry palate, easy drinking, soft tannins on the entry, acid and tannins develop on the finish. Sour cherry in the mid palate with bitterness on the finish. Pinotage, Touriga Nacional, Shiraz, Grenache, Mouverdre traditionally pumped over, fermented at warm temperature for maximum fruit extraction, with no extended skin contact. Lightly wooded. It is dark red in colour, with sweet tannins and nutty undertones, and may therefore be enjoyed young.

Deep inky, slightly garnet rim. Fruity red nose, with spices on the end. Red fruit with spice and pepper. Big tannins and an acid finish. Fairly complex wine but ready to drink now. Shiraz, Grenache, Carrignon, Viognier, Mouverdre A portion of the Shiraz is desiccated on the vine according to an ancient method to intensify the colour and add additional flavour components. The wine is a dark colour with intense flavours and dried orange peel aromas. It is a rich tannic wine with great ageing potential.
