Ruby, cherry red, warm earthy nose with cherry and perfume. Sour black cherries and big acid structure, austere and light bodied. Good acid/tannin structure. On the young side and quite tart. From Givry, Burgundy. Barrel aged for 10 months in 40% new wood. Warm, vivacious and generous. This wine can be compared to Volnay. The soil in Givry gives rather firm wines with aromas of fruit, berries and plum, with a nice acidity. This is a straightforward, well structured and rich yet delicate wine.Alc 1.0 RS PH TA

Garnet, clear with a very light pink rim. Big nose, cherry, bacon and slight earthiness. Very meaty palate, smoked oysters on entry, big complexity and long cherry finish with the meatiness still lingering. Lean acid and firm tannins. Far more voluptuous with a rounded style. From Vosne Romanee, Burgundy. A similar nose that is trimmed in discreet wood notes gives way to richer, fuller, more concentrated and notably more structured medium-bodied flavours that culminate in a sappy and lingering finish. This is a serious Bourgogne.Alc 14 RS PH TA

Cherry red with a pale rim. Earthy, sweet and fruity raspberry character – Kool-Aid. Follows through on the palate. Lots of red fruit with minerality and spice developing on the after taste. Clean and plain, easy drinking wine. Medium acid balance with mild tannins. From Tupungato, Argentina. Fermentation carried out in 1st & 2nd fill French casks then aged in the same barrels for 10 to 14 months. Light red with violety tones. Very floral and mineral nose with great complexity contributed by its development in French oak. Enters with great strength and liveliness and with a smooth textured palate. Great finish.Alc 14 RS 2 PH TA 5.8

Very clear, garnet. Vegetal, petrol, sulphur nose, forest floor, decomposing nose. Fruity entry, with the farmyard and mushrooms developing only on the end. Very dry, chalky tannins. Quite savoury, more so than fruity. Vineyards in Elgin, made in Stellenbosch at Thelema. 9 months in 18% new and balance in 3rd and 4th fill French oak. The wine shows pure fruit aromas, lovely perfumed forest floor characteristics and hints of smoky spice. Earthy flavours of wild strawberry and spice on the palate end in a long, refined finish.Alc 13.64 RS 2.0 PH 3.58 TA 5.2

R 714: R 225 from wine cellar

Very translucent, garnet and strawberry colour. Strawberry and farmyard nose. Concentrated strawberry and raspberry, quite austere, on the palate. Light acids and tannins, with a fairly short finish. Complexity and clean fruit with balance between fruit and acid and a hint of bitterness on the end. From Marsannay, Clos du Roy vineyard, Burgundy. Vinified in vats for 3 – 4 weeks then aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 15 months. The colour is intense, the bouquet is open reminding of wild blackberries, dried prunes and blackcurrant. It will then with age get more musky scents. It is quite tannic but also supple.Alc 13.5 RS PH TA

R150 From Vinicurious

Dark brown with a very light pink rim. Meaty nose, with a hint of strawberry. Meatiness follows the nose, dark minty character but quite dried out. Tea leaves and quite dry. Suggestions of faultiness – volatile acidity or a very old wine. From Rully, Burgundy. 12 months in 20% new French oak. This red wine is very limpid. It shows flavours of black and red fruit complemented by notes of liquorice. As it ages, stewed fruit and peppery kirsch sensations come through. The wine’s fruit and structure are not overpowered by the tannins which can benefit from ageing. The finish shows good length and lingering flavours. This pleasing wine is much appreciated for its softness.Alc 14 RS PH TA
