Inaugurated in 2009 and held as part of the Cellar Rats
Port & Sherry Festival, the Kaapzicht South African National Glühwein Making
Championship was an immediate success, thanks to the generous support of
Kaapzicht.
Kaapzicht supplied the base wine and contestants were given
free-rein to make a Glühwein, the only proviso being that no commercial
"sachets" were allowed to be used.
The 2009 Kaapzicht South African National Glühwein
Making Champion is Richard Lamos. Richard went all out and prepared a
marvelous, authentic Glühwein, using only freshly prepared ingredients (pic
below).
 

The 2010 Kaapzicht South African National Glühwein Making
Championship promises to be even better, - Keep an eye open for the Kaapzicht
banners at the Port & Sherry Festival on 29th May 2010.
